Rain stops play . . .

We sprang out of bed at 8.00 am this morning and had the garage opened (for access to mains power) minutes later. It was cold outside in pyjamas.

I was scarcely back inside when the builder arrived to say that rain was forecast and he didn’t want to put down fresh mortar under the slabs as the rain would then wash the cement out – so he would try again tomorrow. So we tottered off and drank coffee whilst we recovered.

The morning actually stayed dry (stupid builder !) but as of midday the rain has begun – what an excellent chap our builder is 🙂

Well, our builder was correct. It started raining about midday and continued steadily, though not heavily until evening. Good thing too as we have had a dry spell and it will do the garden and the pastures good.
